🌾 About Chatwabod Grampanchayat

We are committed to establishing a transparent Panchayati Raj system at the village level and working for the development of the villages. The executive body of the Gram Panchayat consists of 11 members, including the Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, and other members. As this is a scheduled area as per the PESA Act of 1996, a total of four Gram Sabhas are active here, one for each village.
The Chatwabod Group Gram Panchayat includes a total of four villages, namely 1) Chatwabod, 2) Kekadbod, 3) Padidam, and 4) Kasaikheda. According to the 2019 census, the total population of this Gram Panchayat is 3183, with 2029 males and 1154 females. The literacy rate is 55.66%, and the sex ratio is 963 females per 1000 males. Additionally, 11% of the total population belongs to the tribal Korku community.
Chatwabod Gram Panchayat is located in Taluka-Dharni (sub-district headquarters) in Amravati district of Maharashtra state. It is situated 15 km from the Dharni sub-district headquarters and just 3 km from the Tapi river basin. It is a tribal (Korku community) majority village, and their primary spoken language is Korku. While interacting with people from other communities and outsiders, Hindi is used predominantly, and Marathi is mainly used for reading and writing, and spoken to a small extent.
The main occupation of the people in Chatwabod is agriculture, supplemented by cattle rearing (cows, buffaloes), goat farming, and native chicken farming. The Korku tribal community primarily cultivates the following:
1. During the Kharif season:- Jowar, paddy, maize, cotton, soybean, tur, etc.
2. During the Rabi season:- Gram, wheat, maize, and vegetables, etc.
3. During the Summer season:- Moong, groundnut, maize, and some jowar, etc.
Additionally, in the summer, activities like collecting Mahua flowers and Tendu leaves, Charoli, gum, honey, and other forest produce also contribute to their livelihood.
